About the Symposium
The Sudha Gopalakrishnan Brain Centre (SGBC), Indian Institute of Technology Madras, hosted the III BRICS Neuroscience Symposium, an international scientific gathering that brought together leading neuroscientists, researchers, academicians, and clinicians from BRICS and extended BRICS nations.
The First BRICS Symposium on Neuroscience was successfully held in Shanghai (September 21–24, 2023), followed by the Second BRICS Symposium in Moscow (October 2024). These landmark meetings, jointly proposed by leading neuroscientists from all BRICS nations, were established to promote multilateral collaboration in neuroscience research, capacity building, and technology development.
India proudly hosted the III BRICS Neuroscience Symposium, continuing this important international scientific initiative.
The symposium featured a comprehensive programme of thematic scientific sessions, invited talks, and clinical perspective lectures delivered by eminent researchers and neuroscience experts, encouraging interdisciplinary dialogue and translational insights.
The program addressed a broad range of topics, spanning human brain organisation, function in health and disease, developmental neurobiology, comparative research across diverse model systems, and the use of emerging technologies in neuroscience.

The event featured internationally recognised researchers contributing to diverse domains of neuroscience, including cognitive science, neurodevelopment, computational neuroscience, translational research, and brain disorders.
This global participation underscored the growing importance of collaborative neuroscience research across emerging economies.
